Governor’s FAMILY 2023-24 Project

District Governor’s Partner Project 2023-24

Hello, I’m Helen Parker, District Governor Ian’s partner.

I am privileged and proud to nominate The Rotary Foundation, End Polio Now Fund as my fundraising project for the coming Rotary Year.
Rotarians from across the world have combined to eradicate Polio and it now remains endemic in only Afghanistan and Pakistan. A super human effort since Rotary took control in 1985 when Polio was once again out of control in most parts of the world.
Rotary International, the World Health Organisation and The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation are totally committed to the eradication of polio. But funds are still required to ensure that it remains confined to these two countries and is eradicated.
I am hoping to not only raise some additional funds for this most wonderful cause but also raise the awareness and the importance of our bid to totally eradicate polio from the face of the earth.
When I can, I will endevour to accompany Ian on his Club visits and promote my project. If I am unable to attend, I apologise but it will usually be because I have been rostered on to work. I’m sure Ian will do a fine job in my stead.
I have set up a portal through which individuals can contribute. I am hoping to secure additional support from outside the Rotary family.
If you are a Rotarian and would like to make a personal contribution I suggest you use this portal. You will receive a tax deduction receipt and your contribution will be credited against your personal Foundation contributions as well as your Club. All you need to make sure of, is that the email address you use matches that in My Rotary.

Club donations must be made through normal channels, flagged as DG Partner project. Form containing bank instructions here.
Please advise DG Ian of this donation by email so we can track it.

Latest News
Helen's project continues to receive great support from the Clubs in our District. As I am completing my visits I am so encouraged by the commitment and and support Rotarians show for the End Polio Now initiative.
So since my last update we've received contributions from the following Clubs:
The Rotary Clubs of Glen Waverley incl Wheelers Hill, Rowville-Lysterfield, Noble Park - Dingley (thanks to Val Glenn and her team), Monash, Knox (further contribution) and Doncaster. Just a reminder that club contributions to Helen's project are till included as part of a Club's total annual contribution.
It's worth mentioning that many clubs are making two contributions to the End Polio Fund at the same time, reflecting the fact that their contribution via the Partner Project is additional to their original commitment.
A reminder that if you would like to make a personal, tax deductible donation, please go here. Your donation will be credited against you, as a Rotarian and your Club. Just make sure that the email address you use, matches the address in MyRotary.
Donations from non-Rotarians are, of course, also welcome and can also be made through this portal.
If you are representing a club, please make the contribution by the normal channels but flag it as DG Project and drop DG Ian or Helen an email. Banking details for Clubs can be found here.
As of mid October, her project has received from Rotary members, Rotary Clubs and some non Rotarians a total of AUS$19,260.
Thank you.
