With Polio Eradication so close to being achieved, Rotarians around the world are fighting the next big health battle, Malaria. For many years Rotary has been funding research and activities, in association with the World Health Organisation, aimed to prevent and eliminate malaria throughout the world.
It costs just $10 to provide a child with a net to sleep under. The child is protected from mosquitoes, they get a good night’s sleep, and they are more ready to take on a good education. What a great investment for just $10. Of the reported 619,000 deaths from malaria reported by the WHO in 2021, 75% were children under 5.
The Rotary Action Group, Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM), is asking each Club in District 9810 to donate just 10% of one of its fundraising events. For example, a Bunnings BBQ may raise anything from $1,500 to $2,500 on a Saturday. If every club gave 10% of one of these events we can, collectively, raise more than $15,000. That is, we could save 1,500 children from this insidious disease.
