Rotary Youth Leadership Academy Seminar

Welcome to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program. Run in conjunction with District 9820, this program is a transformational leadership conference open to 18- to 30-year-olds who are looking to develop their leadership potential, build lasting connections and gain new insights and experiences.

 

It focuses on

  •  Developing young leaders who celebrate diversity, create sustainable change, and become service-minded global citizens.
  • Personal development, leadership, and teamwork.
  • Provide conflict resolution strategies alongside leadership training.
  • Emphasize professional development and connect participants with opportunities to serve the community through Rotary.
  • Combine leadership development and vocational training to help young people discover their potential and hone skills. 

Participants will engage in a range of activities, including workshops, team- building exercises, outdoor activities, and guest speaker presentations.

Our program is led by experienced facilitators and mentors who are dedicated to helping participant achieve their full potential. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can learn, grow and thrive.

Rotary  Clubs financially support  participants to attend. Costs in 2022 to sponsor were $1049 per participant and $750 per leader - prices for 2023 will be released shortly.

The next Rotary Youth Leadership Awards will be held from the 26th of June to 1st of July, 2023 to align with university semester breaks.

RYLA 2023 is a joint initiative run by District 9810 and District 9820 and held as a 6 day live in seminar.

 Speakers, from all walks of life, covering a vast array of topics inspire, challenge and stimulate our participants throughout the conference week. 
Past speakers have included leaders in the field of sport, corporate/ industry and NGO's  who inspire and motivate participants giving them key tools they can apply in their roles as leaders.

Activities

 
Hands on activities are specially developed and prepared to stimulate leadership and management skills with a focus on teamwork allowing participants to develop, practice and hone their skills. 
These include skills in team management, project management and communication.

Self Improvement

The RYLA team are dedicated to empowering participants to be the best they can be. They assist participants to develop their leadership skills through planned activities, structured reflection time and to develop skills like self evaluation and character analysis.
Opportunities are also available to extend leadership skills as well as becoming a leader.
