Within our local Communities

People join ‘Rotary’ to make a difference.  The projects listed below are some of the ways that our Rotarians and Rotary Clubs have worked within their local communities and within Australia.  These are just a few of the thousands of projects and programs that make up Rotary International.

Clubs within this District commit over $1.5 million every year to local projects.  Add the hours of effort that accompany every project and you have an estimated 10 million dollars of value.  And, our oldest club turned 50 last year.  We have a huge investment in volunteer hours as well as dollars in our part of Victoria.

And look further on this website for information about our International efforts.  Every day, in every corner of the globe, there are Rotarians changing lives.

A couple of our clubs’ local community projects are featured below:

Rotary Club of Emerald and District:  Fun Run with Thomas – an annual community event in association with  Puffing Billy – and meets every child’s dream – running with the famous Thomas.

This year’s “Kids Fun Run with Thomas” will be held on Sunday 26 November 2017.  The entry form is available on line via the weblink above.  There are activities for Children of all ages.  Come and join in the fun!

Rotary Club of Hampton: Mobi-Chair project – a wheelchair that gives access to the sea – and the local Bayside.

This amphibious wheel chair is located at Ricketts Point Beaumaris and is available for bookings via the local Council Offices.  Pictured left are Rotarians Jennifer Newton (in chair) and Jenny Fox giving the chair its first “dip”.
